Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born on March 26, 1991 and professionally referred to by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to sign to J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Dreamville Records released her debut EP, Pho, in October 2016, and she was able to get recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her first album of studio work on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox released her music online in 2012 when she released five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox dropped her single Bound and the mixtape she self-released, Five Finger Discount. In 2015, she appeared on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on 21st July. J. Cole was interested by her talent and was looking to collaborate with Rihanna. On the 8th of December that she was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat is one of the songs she co-wrote with Cozz to record the collaboration album Revenge of the Dreamers II. In the month of October, she released her first EP, Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track, and performed on her own tour, the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she went on to appear on two songs with her label-mates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th of July, 2018. The first single, called Whipped Cream of the album was released on the 5th of September, 2018 and featured a the music video. Then, in November, she released two singles, 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. In November, 13 the singer released two new singles entitled One and Pdigree. One as well as Pdigree. They then teamed up on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16th. She released the single on February 26, 2019, for her debut album of the same title. In February of 2019, a music video was made available for the track. It has already received nearly three millions views on YouTube within the debut week. In December 2018 she performed on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
